The Washington Wizards invade the TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics on Sunday afternoon.
The Washington Wizards have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last five games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after making light work of the Mavericks in a 135-103 win on Friday. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led the team with 35 points on 13 of 19 shooting, Kristaps Porzingis added 24 points with nine rebounds and four assists while Rui Hachimura chipped in with 21 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 54 percent from the field and an efficient 17 of 33 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 41 points in the first quarter to take an early double-digit lead, before they poured in another 41 points in the fourth quarter to make it a blowout.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in fine form as they’ve won seven of their last nine games and they will be looking to stay hot after sneaking past the Pacers in a 128-123 win on Friday. Jaylen Brown led the team in scoring with 32 points and seven assists on 12 of 18 shooting, Jayson Tatum added 31 points with six assists while Al Horford tallied 17 points with 10 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 54 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and poured in 37 points to take the early lead, but they had to scrap right till the end against a spirited Pacers team as they never led by more than 10 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record, 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Celtics are 6-2 ATS in their last eight Sunday games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a win.
Head to head, the under is 7-1 in the last eight meetings overall, the Wizards are 4-12-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings in Boston and the Wizards are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Wizards will be shorthanded again as they will be without Kyle Kuzma, while the Celtics are keeping an eye on Jayson Tatum who is listed as day to day in this one. The Wizards were impressive in their shock win over the Mavericks on Friday, but the Celtics are clearly the team in better shape and they have too much to play for, so I’m backing them to get the win and cover in an easy game here.
