The Orlando Magic play host to the New York Knicks at the Amway Center on Sunday night.
The New York Knicks have been in decent form as they’ve won six of their past 10 games overall, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss after getting routed by the Cavaliers in a 119-101 loss last night. Obi Toppin led the team with 20 points, Evan Fournier added 19 points while Immanuel Quickley chipped in with 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot just 40 percent from the field and 13 of 30 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Cavaliers off to a flyer and leaked 39 points in the first quarter to fall behind early on and they just never find their footing in this one, falling behind by as many as 22 points in a game in which they never led.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games and they will be hoping to stop a five-game slide after getting routed by the Raptors in a 102-89 loss on Friday. Mo Bamba led the team in scoring with 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, Ignas Brazdeikis added 13 points while Markelle Fultz tallied 12 points with five rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Magic shot just 42 percent from the field and 11 of 35 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense and trailed by 13 points going into halftime, and things only got worse in the third quarter where they managed just 17 points to fall behind by as many as 22 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 8-1 ATS in their last nine road games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. The Magic are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 0-5 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2-1 in the last eight meetings overall, the Knicks are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Orlando and the Knicks are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Knicks are missing a list of players including Julius Randle and Nerlens Noel while Quentin Grimes and Miles McBridge are both questionable for this one. The Magic have ruled out Wendell Carter Jr and Jalen Suggs while Cole Anthony and Franz Wagner are both listed as questionable. The Knicks are playing this one on zero days’ rest, but they simply have more to play for at this stage of the season and I think they can get the narrow win and cover in this spot.
