The Indiana Pacers invade the TD Garden to do battle with the Boston Celtics on Friday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in a slump as they’ve lost 10 of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a five-game slide after getting stopped by the Nuggets in a 125-118 loss on Wednesday. Buddy Hield led the team with 20 points, Goga Bitadze added 17 points with 10 rebounds and two blocks, Terry Taylor scored 18 points while Tyrese Haliburton chipped in with 15 points and 12 assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 40 from the 3-point line as they clawed their way back from an early 31-point deficit, only to see the Nuggets slip away in the fourth quarter where they allowed 34 points.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in terrific form as they’ve won 11 of their last 14 games overall, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss after getting stopped by the Heat in a 106-98 loss on Wednesday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 28 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, Jayson Tatum added 23 points with six assists while Daniel Theis chipped in with 15 points on six of nine shooting off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot just 41 percent from the field and 11 of 37 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control when they poured in 31 points in the third quarter to take a seven-point lead, but they went ice-cold in the fourth quarter where they managed just 15 points to allow the Heat to steal the game in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games as a road underdog, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Celtics are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games against a team with a losing road record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 23-11 in the last 34 meetings in Boston and the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall.
The Pacers still have seven players listed on their injury report as out and they could be without Oshae Brissett and Goga Bitadze who are both listed as questionable. The Celtics are just about at full strength except for Robert Williams who should be out at least another four weeks. It’s hard to imagine anything but a win for the Celtics here and I’m not afraid to take the line given this favorable matchup. The Pacers have nothing to play for while the Celtics are jostling for playoff positions and I think that’s going to be evident in this one.
