The Orlando Magic and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Wednesday night.
The Orlando Magic have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after falling short to the Cavaliers in a 107-101 road loss on Monday. Wendell Carter Jr led the team in scoring with just 15 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, Franz Wagner scored 11 points while Mo Bamba, Cole Anthony and Markelle Fultz each scored 11 points. As a team, the Magic shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 37 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and found themselves trailing back from a 20-point deficit, only to come up just short as they managed just nine points in the final 5:50 to allow the Cavaliers to slip away in the end.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in decent shape lately as they’ve won three of their last six games, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after getting routed by the Bulls in a 107-94 loss last night. Rui Hachimura scored 21 points, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 20 points while Kristaps Porzingis chipped in with 14 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. As a team, the Wizards shot 48 percent from the field and a miserly six of 26 from the 3-point line as they did a nice job of keeping pace with the Bulls until the fourth quarter where the Bulls went on a pivotal 13-2 run to pull away and steal the game in the end. Hachimura barely missed as he shot eight of 10 from the field, but Corey Kispert had a rough night as he shot just three of 10 from the field while Daniel Gafford shot just one of five for his two points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Wizards are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 7-23-1 ATS in their last 31 games against a team with a losing record and 11-25-1 ATS in their last 37 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings in Washington, the Magic are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall and the Magic are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington.
The Magic will likely be shorthanded again as Jalen Suggs is on the injury report with an ankle injury, while the Wizards will be missing Kyle Kuzma again. The Magic were competitive against the Cavaliers in their last outing, but it’s actually the Wizards who are coming into this one with a little more momentum as they had won three of five before last night’s loss to the Bulls. This should be a close one, but even though the betting trends favor the Magic in this matchup, I’m leaning towards the Wizards to get the win at home behind big games from Hachimura and Caldwell-Pope.
