The Miami Heat pay a visit to the TD Garden to do battle with the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
The Miami Heat have been in a slump as they were riding an ugly four-game losing streak before they got their season back on track with a 123-100 win over the Kings on Monday. Jimmy Butler led the team with 27 points and seven assists, Bam Adebayo added 22 points with 15 rebounds while Tyler Herro chipped in with 20 points and six assists off the bench. As a team, the Heat shot 54 percent from the field and 19 of 40 from the 3-point line as they came out with the right intensity and jumped all over the Kings right from the start to take a 16-point lead into halftime, before they exploded for 36 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 26 points.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 11 of their last 13 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after coming up short to the Raptors in a 115-112 overtime road loss on Monday. Marcus Smart led the team with 28 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Grant Williams added 17 points with seven rebounds and two blocks while Derrick White tallied 15 points with six rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Celtics shot just 41 percent from the field and 12 of 40 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the Raptors in a close contest, until overtime where the Raptors closed the final 3:05 on a 9-2 run to snatch the game from them in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record, 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine road games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Celtics are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings overall and the Heat are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Boston.
The Heat have listed Gabe Vincent, Duncan Robinson and Caleb Martin as day to day, while the Celtics are missing Robert Williams and Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are both listed as day to day. This would be a perfect opportunity of the Heat to pounce on a shorthanded Celtics team under normal circumstances, but they were really struggling before their win over the slumping Kings on Monday, so I think I’d rather stick with the more consistent Celtics who are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall.
