The Detroit Pistons travel to the Barclays Center to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in a major slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after coming up just short to the Knicks in a 104-102 loss on Sunday. Marvin Bagley led the team with 27 points on 11 of 14 shooting, Cade Cunningham added 18 points with seven assists while Saddiq Bey chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 45 percent from the field and eight of 29 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and had to fight their way back from a 21-point deficit, only to come up painfully short as the Knicks’ Alec Burks blocked Cunningham’s final shot with just 3.0 seconds left on the clock.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in fine form as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games, but they will be hoping for a better performance in this one after getting blown off the floor by the Hornets in a 119-100 loss on Sunday. Kevin Durant led the team with 27 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Andre Drummond added 20 points with 17 rebounds and three blocks while Kyrie Irving chipped in with 16 points and 11 assists. As a team, the Nets shot just 44 percent from the field and seven of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a nice start and took the narrow lead into halftime, but the momentum shifted in the third quarter where the Hornets exploded for 37 points to take the lead which they didn’t relinquish. Irving had a rough shooting night in his debut home game as he shot just six of 22 from the field and one of nine from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 8-0 ATS in their last eight road games, 8-0 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 15-3 ATS in their last 18 games overall. The Nets are 5-22-1 ATS in their last 28 home games and 2-12 ATS in their last 14 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Brooklyn and the Pistons are 4-9 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Brooklyn.
The Pistons will again be missing Chris Smith, Hamidou Daillo and Jerami Grant, while the Nets are just about at full strength except for Ben Simmons who has yet to debut. The Pistons haven’t been in great form, but they were close against the Knicks on Sunday thanks to a big game from Bagley and they could certainly spring the upset in this one. However, the Nets will be eager to bounce back in this one after getting routed in their last outing, and I think they win easily here.
