The Orlando Magic travel to the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse to battle the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.
The Orlando Magic have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after coming up short against the Kings in a 114-110 overtime loss on Saturday. Franz Wagner led the team with 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists, Mo Bamba added 18 points with 13 rebounds, Markelle Fultz scored 16 points off the bench while Cole Anthony tallied 14 points with seven rebounds and nine assists. As a team, the Magic shot just 42 percent from the field and 13 of 36 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after clawing back from an early 13-point deficit, only to squander an eight-point lead in the final 1:14 to go into overtime where they managed just five points.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in a rut of their own as they’ve lost six of their last nine games and they will be hoping to arrest a three-game skid after coming up short against the Bulls in a 98-94 loss on Saturday. Darius Garland led the team with 28 points, six rebounds and five assists, Caris LeVert added 17 points while Lauri Markkanen chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Cavaliers shot just 41 percent from the field and seven of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and managed a measly 35 points in the first half to fall behind by as 19 points which proved to be too much to overcome as the Cavaliers came up just short in the end. Kevin Love had a night to forget as he scored just five points on two of eight shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Magic are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 5-1 ATS in their last six games as an underdog and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Cavaliers are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games, 1-6 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings overall, the Magic are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Cleveland and the Magic are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Magic are going to be shorthanded again as Jalen Suggs is still out with an ankle sprain, while the Cavaliers will be missing Jarrett Allen, Dean Wade and Rajon Rondo. The Magic really don’t have anything to play for at this stage of the season and their confidence took a hit after falling in overtime to the Kings on Saturday, while the Cavaliers will be hoping to get back on track with a much-needed win as they are just one game behind the sixth-placed Raptors. The line seems a little hefty, but this game means more to the Cavaliers and I think they get the job done at home.
