The Atlanta Hawks and the Detroit Pistons duke it out at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Knicks in a 117-111 road win last night. Trae Young led the team with 45 points and eight assists, Bogdan Bogdanovic added 32 points on 11 of 20 shooting off the bench while Kevin Huerter chipped in with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 49 percent from the field and 15 of 36 from the 3-point line as they poured in 64 points in the first half to take the early lead, but it wasn’t all one-way traffic as they really had to fight in the fourth quarter as they trailed by 10 points before going on a pivotal 24-6 run in the fourth quarter to come away with the impressive victory.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a real funk as they’ve lost six of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling short to the Trail Blazers in a 119-115 loss on Monday. Saddiq Bey and Cade Cunningham each scored 25 points, Marvin Bagley added 15 points with nine rebounds while Killian Hayes chipped in with 12 points and six assists. As a team, the Pistons shot just 42 percent from the field and nine of 35 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early 23-point deficit to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, only to see the Trail Blazers slip away in the end. Isaiah Livers had a night to forget as he finished with just five points on one of seven shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 1-5 ATS in their last six games playing on zero days’ rest, 0-6 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 1-8 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Pistons are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall and the Hawks are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Hawks are still without Lou Williams and John Collins, while the Pistons are still missing Hamidou Diallo and Chris Smith while Isaiah Livers is listed as day to day. It’s always tough playing the second night of a back to back set, but the Hawks were great in last night’s comeback victory and I think they can stay hot with another win in this spot.
