The New York Knicks play host to the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in fine form as they’ve won four of their last six games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after coming up short against the Pelicans in a 117-112 loss on Sunday. Danilo Gallinari led the team with 27 points, Trae Young and Bogdan Bogdanovic each scored 21 points while Clint Capela chipped in with 14 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Hawks shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and had to claw their way back from an early 19-point deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter, only to see the Pelicans close the game on a 7-2 run to slip away in the end.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last eight games overall, but they will be aiming to bounce back in this one after getting thrashed by the Jazz in a 108-93 loss on Sunday. RJ Barrett led the team with 24 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Evan Fournier added 17 points while Immanuel Quickley chipped in with 16 points and four assists off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot just 37 percent from the field and 16 of 40 from the 3-point line as they got outscored by 34-22 in the second quarter to fall behind going into halftime and things only got worse in the second half where they managed just 40 points. Julius Randle scored just 13 points on six of 21 shooting while Alec Burks scored just 10 points on three of nine shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 10-26 ATS in their last 36 road games, 0-6 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 1-8 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Knicks are 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games, 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall.
Head to head, the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings overall, the Hawks are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in New York and the Hawks are 4-10-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings overall.
The Hawks will again be shorthanded as John Collins and Lou Williams are both out while Bogdan Bogdanovic is currently listed as questionable. The Knicks are coming in with the same lineup as Nerlens Noel, Derrick Rose, Cam Reddish and Kemba Walker are all out. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the Knicks get the win in this one as they’re coming into this meeting with plenty of momentum and they’ve already beaten the Hawks three times this season, but the Hawks have been on a nice run and I think they can avoid the regular season sweep behind a big game from Young.
