The Oklahoma City Thunder pay a visit to the Orlando Magic at the Amway Center on Sunday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 11 of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to an ugly eight-game losing streak after getting routed by the Heat in a 120-108 road loss on Friday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 26 points, seven rebounds and four assists, Tre Mann added 25 points off the bench, Aaron Wiggins added 17 points while Darius Bazley chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 34 from the 3-point line, but their problems were on the defensive end as they leaked 42 points in the second quarter to trail going into halftime, before they got blown out in the third quarter where they fell behind by as many as 29 points.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have been in poor form as well as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to snap a three-game skid after getting beaten by the Pistons in a 134-120 loss on Thursday. Franz Wagner led the team with 26 points on 10 of 15 shooting, Terrence Ross added 17 points off the bench while Moritz Wagner chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Magic shot 48 percent from the field and 11 of 30 from the 3-point line as they looked to be on fire after pouring in 39 points in the first quarter, but they couldn’t keep up the pace and they were always playing from behind after falling behind by double-digits going into halftime. Cole Anthony had a rough night as he shot just four of 15 from the field while RJ Hampton scored just eight points on three of 11 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Thunder are 24-8 ATS in their last 32 road games, 21-9-1 ATS in their last 31 games against a team with a losing record and 24-8 ATS in their last 32 games as a road underdog. The Magic are 13-29-1 ATS in their last 43 home games, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Orlando, the Thunder are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Orlando and the Thunder are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Thunder are still without a long list of players and they are also sweating on the availability of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who is questionable, while the Magic will be keeping an eye on Jalen Suggs who is currently questionable for this one. It’s hard to split two teams that have been struggling so much, but with the Thunder dealing with so many more injuries, I have to lean towards the Magic to get the narrow win at home behind a bounce-back game from Anthony.
