The Memphis Grizzlies pay a visit to the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in great shape as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games overall, but they are coming into this one looking to bounce back after having their four-game win streak halted by the Hawks in a 120-105 road loss on Friday. Ja Morant led the team with 29 points on 11 of 23 shooting, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. each scored 15 points while Dillon Brooks chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 46 percent from the field and eight of 22 from the 3-point line but they got off to a sluggish start and were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 67-48 in the first half. Steven Adams finished with just three points on one of three shooting while no bench player finished in double figures in scoring.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost 17 of their last 19 games overall and they will be hoping to stop a four-game slide after coming up short to the Pacers in a 121-118 loss on Friday. Christian Wood led the team with 32 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, Jalen Green added 20 points with six assists while Kevin Porter Jr. chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 49 percent from the field and 12 of 27 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 39 points in the third quarter to build a 12-point lead, only to see the Pacers close the final 2:22 on a 13-5 run to snatch the game from them in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 8-1 ATS in their last nine games following a loss, 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games against a team with a losing record and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. The Rockets are 22-51 ATS in their last 73 home games, 17-39 ATS in their last 56 games as a home underdog and 12-28 ATS in their last 40 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 29-14 in the last 43 meetings in Houston and the Grizzlies are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Houston.
The Grizzlies are going to be shorthanded again as Ja Morant has been ruled out, while the Rockets will be sweating on the availability of Eric Gordon who is listed as questionable with an illness. The Grizzlies aren’t quite as good without Morant in their lineup, but they’re still more than good enough to get the job done against this slumping Rockets team.
