The Milwaukee Bucks pay a visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Milwaukee Bucks have been in red-hot form as they’ve won eight of their last nine games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after routing the Kings in a 135-126 road win on Wednesday. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the team with 36 points and 10 rebounds, Khris Middleton added 32 points with eight rebounds and eight assists while Jrue Holiday chipped in with 21 points on eight of 16 shooting. As a team, the Bucks shot 52 percent from the field and 18 of 35 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 40 points in the second quarter, but they really had to work in this one as they didn’t gain any separation until the fourth quarter as they closed the final 3:37 on a 15-3 run to escape with the narrow win after squandering an early 11-point lead.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been on fire as they’ve won nine of their last 10 games overall and they will be aiming to build on their current three-game win streak after routing the Lakers in a 124-104 win on Wednesday. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team with 30 points, Anthony Edwards added 27 points with six rebounds and four assists while Patrick Beverley chipped in with 18 points on six of nine shooting. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 44 percent from the field and 17 of 42 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half to build a 25-point lead, before pouring in 38 points in the fourth quarter after the Lakers cut the lead to just four points. D’Angelo Russell had a quiet game of just six points on two of 11 shooting from the field and one of seven shooting from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bucks are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games as a road favorite and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Timberwolves are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games, 5-0-1 ATS in their last six games playing on two days’ rest and 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Minnesota, the Bucks are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall and the Bucks are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Minnesota.
Both teams are coming into this meeting with plenty of momentum, but it’s the Bucks who are the healthier team as they are welcoming Pat Connaughton back to the lineup, while the Timberwolves have listed Jarred Vanderbilt and Naz Reid as questionable. The Timberwolves should have Anthony Edwards back in the lineup and they are more than capable of pulling off the upset given how well they’ve been playing lately, but with the line so short, I’m sticking with the Bucks to get the job done here.
