The Phoenix Suns invade the Toyota Center to do battle with the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been in red-hot form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after making light work of the Pelicans in a 131-115 road win last night. Devin Booker led the team with 27 points and eight assists on 11 of 20 shooting, Mikal Bridges added 20 points, JaVale McGee scored 19 points while DeAndre Ayton chipped in with 18 points on seven of 11 shooting. As a team, the Suns shot 54 percent from the field and a healthy 18 of 34 from the 3-point line as they poured in 67 points in the first half to take the lead into halftime and they just never let off until the final whistle as a total of six players finished in double figures in scoring.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 15 of their last 17 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting routed by the Pelicans in a 130-105 road loss on Sunday. Jalen Green led the team with 17 points, David Nwaba added 15 points while Jae’Sean Tate chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 31 from the 3-point line but their defense once again leaked like a sieve as they allowed 39 points in the second quarter to take a 13-point deficit into halftime, before they managed just 17 points in the third quarter to fall behind by as many as 30 points at one stage.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a losing home record. The Rockets are 21-50 ATS in their last 71 home games, 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games against a team with a winning record and 11-27 ATS in their last 38 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Suns are 24-9 ATS in the last 33 meetings in Houston.
The Suns will again be missing Cameron Johnson, Chris Paul and Gabriel Lundberg, while the Rockets have listed Eric Gordon as questionable for this one. The Suns are playing this one on zero days’ rest, but they are clearly the team in better form compared to the Rockets who have won just two of their last 17 games overall. The line is a little hefty, but the Suns are 24-9 ATS in the last 33 meetings in Houston and I think that trend continues here as the Suns win big.
