The Philadelphia 76ers invade the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in great form as they’ve won seven of their last 10 games overall, but they will be looking to bounce back in this one after coming up short against the Nuggets in a 114-110 loss on Monday. Joel Embiid led the team with 34 points, nine rebounds and four assists, James Harden added 24 points with nine rebounds and 11 assists while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the 76ers shot just 42 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 37 points in the first quarter to take an early 19-point lead, but they allowed the Nuggets back in the contest and it cost them in the fourth quarter where the Nuggets opened with a pivotal 22-9 run to take the game away from them in a close one.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their last five games and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the Clippers in a 120-111 overtime home win on Monday. Evan Mobley led the team with 30 points on 13 of 22 shooting, Darius Garland added 24 points with 13 assists while Isaac Okoro chipped in with 20 points and five assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 47 percent from the field and 15 of 30 from the 3-point line as they squandered a nine-point fourth quarter lead, but they regrouped and made up for it in overtime where they held the Clippers to just five points to slip away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games, 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Cavaliers are 1-5 ATS in their last six games as an underdog and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games against a team with a winning road record.
Head to head, the under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall and the under is 19-7 in the last 26 meetings in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers are still without Lonzo Ball who is still without a timetable for a return, but the good news is that Zach LaVine is listed as probable for this one. The 76ers are coming into this meeting as the team in better form despite losing the Nuggets in their last outing and they’ve already beaten the Cavaliers twice this season. The 76ers are also 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss, so I’m backing them to bounce back here and escape with the win and cover.
