The Washington Wizards play host to the Denver Nuggets at the Ball Arena on Wednesday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been in great form as they’ve won 11 of their last 14 games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after sneaking past the 76ers in a 114-110 road win on Monday. Nikola Jokic led the team with 22 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists, Will Barton added 20 points, while Bones Hyland provided the spark off the bench with 21 points on seven of 14 shooting. As a team, the Nuggets shot 53 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and trailed by as any as 19 points early on, but they hung in the contest and made their move in the fourth quarter where they outscored the 76ers by 33-22 to escape with the impressive comeback victory.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a slump as they’ve lost seven of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game slide after getting routed by the Warriors in a 126-112 road loss on Monday. Kristaps Porzingis led the team with 25 points, eight rebounds and four assists, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 19 points while Deni Advija chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 51 percent from the field and 10 of 26 from the 3-point line, but they were always playing from behind in this one after allowing the Warriors to pour in 40 points in the second quarter to fall into an early 19-point deficit.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Wizards are 4-13-1 ATS in their last 18 home games, 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 15-34-2 ATS in their last 51 games overall.
Head to head, the Nuggets are 2-8 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Washington and the Nuggets are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall.
The Nuggets will again be without Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr while Aaron Gordon is listed as questionable for this one due to an illness. The Wizards have been in terrible shape and their confidence took another hit after getting blown out by the Warriors in their last outing, so with the line at less than two possessions, I’ll stick with the more reliable Nuggets to stay hot with a win and cover here.
