The Atlanta Hawks pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in great shape as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight win after taking down the Trail Blazers in a 122-113 win on Monday. Trae Young led the team with 46 points and 12 assists on 15 of 31 shooting, DeAndre Hunter added 20 points while Kevin Huerter chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Hawks shot just 36 percent from the field and 12 of 48 from the 3-point line as they got off to a rough start and trailed by 15 points in the first half, but they must have had a good talk at halftime, because they dominated the second half by 64-46 to make it look easy in the end.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last six games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after routing the Thunder in a 134-116 road win on Monday. Terry Rozier led the team with 30 points, six rebounds and four assists, Miles Bridges added 27 points with six assists while LaMelo Ball chipped in with 21 points and seven assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 53 percent from the field and a sizzling 20 of 35 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early 18-point deficit before running away with it in the second half where they poured in 69 points to win comfortably in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record, 0-5 ATS in their last five games as an underdog, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall. The Hornets are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 home games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win of more than 10 points and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the under is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings in Charlotte and the Hawks are 4-9-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Charlotte.
The Hawks should have Danilo Gallinari back in the lineup, but they will be without John Collins, while the Hornets are just about at full strength for this one other than Gordon Hayward who remains who is out indefinitely. The Hawks have been the more consistent team this season for sure, but they are 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall and 4-9-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings in Charlotte. With that being said, I’ll go with the Hornets who have been lighting it up from the perimeter lately.
