The Oklahoma City Thunder play host to the Charlotte Hornets at the Paycom Center on Monday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in decent shape as they’ve won three of their last five games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Pelicans in a 142-120 road win on Friday. Miles Bridges led the team with 26 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, Terry Rozier added 25 points with eight assists, Montrezl Harrell scored 16 points on seven of nine shooting off the bench, while LaMelo Ball chipped in with 17 points and nine assists. As a team, the Hornets shot a sizzling 59 percent from the field and 22 of 47 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start to take the lead into halftime, before exploding for a season-high 81 points in the second half to make it a complete blowout in the end.
Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 13 of their last 16 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a five-game slide after falling short to the Grizzlies in a 125-118 home loss last night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 31 points and seven assists, Darius Bazley added 29 points with 10 rebounds while Tre Mann chipped in with 15 points and five assists. As a team, the Thunder shot just 42 percent from the field and 13 of 40 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by double-digits in the first quarter which ballooned to an 18-point deficit before the Thunder scored a flurry of late points to keep the final scores respectable.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games playing on two days’ rest and 43-15-1 ATS in their last 59 games against a team below .400. The Thunder are 1-5-2 ATS in their last eight home games and 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall, the Hornets are 8-17-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings overall and the Hornets are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Oklahoma City.
The Hornets were struggling for a while there, but they’ve come to life with three wins in their last five outings and they looked fantastic in their massive win over the Pelicans on Friday. The Thunder are still missing a list of players and they will be playing this one on zero days’ rest after coming up short against the Grizzlies last night despite 60 points from Gilgeous-Alexander and Bazley combined. The Hornets are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games, while the Thunder are 1-5-2 ATS in their last eight home games. The line is a little hefty, but I’m sticking with the Hornets to get the win and cover in this spot.
