The New York Knicks pay a visit to the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Sunday afternoon.
The New York Knicks have been searching for consistency as they’ve lost eight of their last 11 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after having their three-game win streak halted by the Grizzlies in a 118-114 road loss on Friday. Julius Randle led the team with 36 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, RJ Barrett added 23 points while Alec Burks chipped in with 18 points, six rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Knicks shot just 42 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the 3-point line as they exploded for 40 points in the third quarter to build a 15-point lead, only to get run down in the fourth quarter where they got outscored by 31-18. The Knicks shot themselves in the foot repeatedly with 16 turnovers and their reserves got outscored by 37-15.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have lost six of their last nine games overall, but they’re starting to turn things around after blowing past the 76ers in a dominant 129-100 road win on Thursday. Kevin Durant looked unstoppable in this one as he scored 25 points with 14 rebounds and seven assists, Seth Curry torched his former team for 24 points on 10 of 14 shooting while Kyrie Irving chipped in with 22 points and five assists. As a team, the Nets shot 56 percent from the field and 18 of 40 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 40 points in the first quarter to take the early double-digit lead and made it look easy as they led by as many as 36 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games, 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall. The Nets are 5-20-1 ATS in their last 26 home games, 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS in their last four Sunday games.
Head to head, the over is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the Knicks are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall and the Knicks are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings in Brooklyn.
The Knicks are still missing a list of players including Cam Reddish, Nerlens Noel, Obi Toppin and Derrick Rose, while the Nets will be without Kyrie Irving and LaMarcus Aldridge. The Knicks started to turn things around with a couple of wins on the trot, but so have the Nets who looked absolutely dominant in their big win over the 76ers on Thursday. This should be a close one, but in the end I have the Nets getting the win and cover behind a big game from Durant.
