The New York Knicks invade the FedExForum to battle the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.
The New York Knicks are starting to build some momentum now as they will be eager to build on their current three-game win streak after making light work of the Mavericks in a 107-77 road win on Wednesday. Julius Randle led the team with 26 points, eight rebounds and five assists, RJ Barrett added 18 points with seven rebounds and four assists while Alec Burks chipped in with 15 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Knicks shot just 42 percent from the field and nine of 34 from the 3-point line, but this win was all about their defense as they held the Mavericks to just 34 points in the first half, before restricting them to a season-low 12 points in the fourth quarter to earn the impressive victory.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in fine form as they’ve won 10 of their last 14 games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after blowing past the Pelicans in a 132-111 win on Tuesday. Ja Morant led the team with 24 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, Jaren Jackson Jr and Desmond Bane each scored 22 points while Ziaire Williams chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 44 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start and set the tone with 44 points in the first quarter and they didn’t let up until they built a 36-point lead in the third quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. The Grizzlies are 7-1 ATS in their last eight home games, 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record and 35-16 ATS in their last 51 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall and the over is 14-5 in the last 19 meetings in Memphis.
The Knicks are again without a list of players including Derrick Rose, Nerlens Noel, Obi Toppin and Cam Reddish, while the Grizzlies are at full strength except for Dillon Brooks who is listed as doubtful. These two teams have already met once this season with the Grizzlies winning by 120-108 back on Feb 2 and I’m expecting a similar result in this one, despite the Knicks’ recent resurgence. The Grizzlies are 7-1 ATS in their last eight home games and I think that trend continues here.
