The Detroit Pistons invade the TD Garden to take on the Boston Celtics on Friday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been on a nice run as they’ve won six of their last nine games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after having their three-game win streak halted by the Bulls in a 114-108 loss on Wednesday. Cade Cunningham led the team with 22 points and six assists, while Jerami Grant, Saddiq Bey and Kelly Olynyk each scored 12 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 51 percent from the field and 11 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and led for most of the game, until the fourth quarter where the Bulls ambushed them with a pivotal 17-2 run to snatch the game from them in the end.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been on fire as they’ve won 15 of their last 17 games overall and they will be eager to build on their current four-game win streak after routing the Hornets in a 115-101 road win on Wednesday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 44 points on 16 of 24 shooting, Jaylen Brown added 15 points with five assists while Marcus Smart chipped in with 12 points and nine assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 49 percent from the field and 12 of 37 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the pesky Hornets in a tight contest, until late in the third quarter where they went on a 30-12 run to pull away and win comfortably,
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 9-0 ATS in their last nine games overall. The Celtics are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games, 9-25-1 ATS in their last 35 games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-2 in the last nine meetings in Boston, the Pistons are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings in Boston and the Pistons are 7-0 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Pistons will again be missing Isaiah Stewart, Frank Jackson, Hamidou Dialo and Killian Hayes, while the Celtics are just about at full strength except for Aaron Nesmith who has been ruled out. The Pistons have really come to life over their last nine games and they were close against the Bulls on Wednesday, but the Celtics are the deserved heavy favorites at home, especially with Tatum in career-best form at the moment. I can’t see anything but a win for the Celtics in this spot, but with the line so hefty, I’m taking the Pistons who are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings in Boston.
