The Brooklyn Nets pay a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall, but they will be aiming to build some momentum after blowing past the Hornets in a 132-121 road win on Tuesday. Kyrie Irving drained nine 3-pointers to lead the team with a season-high 50 points on 15 of 19 shooting, Andre Drummond added 20 points with 14 rebounds while Kevin Durant and Bruce Brown each scored 14 points. As a team, the Nets shot 56 percent from the field and a sizzling 18 of 35 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and exploded for 69 points in the first half to lead by as many as 34 points in the much-needed victory.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in red-hot form as they’ve won eight of their last 10 games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after routing the Bulls in a 121-106 win on Monday. Joel Embiid led the team with 43 points with 14 rebounds and three blocks, Tyrese Maxey added 17 points while James Harden tallied 16 points with eight rebounds and 14 assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 48 percent from the field and 12 of 30 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 37 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before running away with it in the second half as they rode the hot hand of Embiid who dominated from start to finish in this one.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven road games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games against a team above .600. The 76ers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on two days’ rest and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the Nets are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Philadelphia.
The Nets will again be without LaMarcus Aldridge who sat out on Tuesday with a hip injury, while the 76ers will again be missing Danny Green who is expected to miss another week at least. The Nets are more than capable of pulling off the minor upset if Irving gets hot like he did on Tuesday, but the 76ers are currently one of the hottest teams in the league and they will surely put up a big effort for Harden who was of course traded from the Nets. This should be a close one, but the Nets are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Philadelphia and I think that trend continues here as the 76ers get the win and cover.
