The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves duke it out at the Target Center on Wednesday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been in rough shape as they’ve lost 11 of their last 14 games overall and they will be hoping for a better showing after last night’s 142-115 home loss to the Bucks. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 33 points, eight rebounds and 14 assists, Lindy Waters added 16 points off the bench while Isaiah Roby chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Thunder shot 50 percent from the field and 16 of 39 from the 3-point line which is enough to hang with most teams, but not the Bucks who drained 20 of 40 from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been in great form as they’ve won eight of their past 10 games overall and they will be eager to build on their current five-game win streak after making light work of the Trail Blazers in a 124-81 home win on Monday. Karl-Anthony Towns led the team in scoring with 27 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks, Malik Beasley added 19 points while Naz Reid chipped in with 18 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 43 from the 3-point line as they poured in 61 points in the first half to take a 26-point lead into halftime and things only got getter in the fourth quarter where they poured in 34 points to make it an absolute blowout. On the defensive end, the Timberwolves did a great job of holding the Trail Blazers to just 34 points in the first half while holding them to just 27 percent shooting from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Thunder are 22-7 ATS in their last 29 road games, 13-5-3 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a winning record and 23-11-4 ATS in their last 38 games overall. The Timberwolves are 12-2 ATS in their last 14 games against a team below .400, 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 home games and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings overall, the Thunder are 5-11-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall and the Thunder are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Minnesota.
The Thunder have been without a list of key players and they will again be shorthanded with Josh GIddey, Derrick Favors and Ty Jerome all still out, while the Timberwolves are sweating on the availability of D’Angelo Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, Taurean Prince, Patrick Beverley and Anthony Edwards who are all listed as questionable. It’s hard to pick a game with so many players under an injury cloud, but the Timberwolves are clearly the team in better form and I think they win easily behind a big game from Towns.
