The Boston Celtics pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.
The Boston Celtics have been one of the hottest teams in the league as they’ve won 14 of their last 16 games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after sneaking past the Nets in a 126-120 win on Sunday. Jayson Tatum led the team with a season-high 54 points on 16 of 30 shooting, Jaylen Brown added 21 points with five assists while Marcus Smart chipped in with 14 points and nine assists. As a team, the Celtics shot 48 percent from the field and 17 of 36 from the 3-point line as they got off to sluggish start and trailed for most of the first half, before escaping with the narrow win in the fourth quarter as they closed the final 1:27 on a 12-7 run to escape with the impressive win.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have split their last six games and they were on a two-game win streak before getting stopped in their tracks by the Nets in a 132-121 loss last night. Miles Bridges and Terry Rozier led the team with 30 points each, LaMelo Ball tallied 24 points with five rebounds and seven assists while Kelly Oubre Jr. chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Hornets shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 41 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start, falling behind by 69-43 going into halftime before making a bit of a run in the second half to keep the final scores respectable. PJ Washington had a night to forget as he finished with just four points on one of seven shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games against a team with a winning home record while the Hornets are 2-9-1 ATS in their last 12 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest.
Head to head, the Celtics are 18-7-1 ATS in the last 26 meetings overall and the Celtics are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Charlotte.
The Celtics are just about at full strength except for Aaron Nesmith who is out with an ankle injury, while the Hornets are still without James Bouknight. The Celtics are coming into this meeting as one of the hottest teams in the league, especially with Tatum who just poured in 54 points in his last outing. I would be tempted to take the Hornets if we were getting more points, but with the line where it is, I’m sticking with the Celtics who are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings in Charlotte.
