The Indiana Pacers play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall, but they will be aiming to build some momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 104-96 win over the Raptors on Sunday. Lauri Markkanen led the team with 22 points and 12 rebounds, Evan Mobley added 20 points with 17 rebounds and three blocks while Darius Garland and Cedi Osman each scored 17 points. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 45 percent from the field and 11 of 36 from the 3-point line as they held the Raptors to just 17 points in the second quarter to take a 13-point lead into halftime which held right till the end as the kept the Raptors to just 39 percent shooting from the field. The win came at a cost though as Jarrett Allen played just 10 minutes before leaving the game with a fractured finger.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting routed by the Wizards in a 133-123 road loss on Sunday. Malcolm Brogdon led the team with 27 points, Goga Bitadze added 20 points on seven of seven shooting off the bench, Buddy Hield tallied 19 points with eight rebounds and seven assists while Tyrese Haliburton racked up 15 points with seven rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 51 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the 3-point line as they poured in 35 points in the second quarter to take the lead into halftime, before getting blown away in the second half where they allowed an alarming 76 points to allow the Wizards to slip away in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Pacers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings in Indiana, the Cavaliers are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Indiana and the Cavaliers are 3-0-2 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Cavaliers are still without Caris LeVert, Rajon Rondo and now Jarrett Allen, while the Pacers will be missing Chris Duarte while Lance Stephenson and Goga Bitadze are both questionable for this one. The Cavaliers have managed to keep winning games despite being plagued by injuries all season, but the loss of Jarrett Allen should really challenge them. The Pacers were showing signs of life before getting beaten by the Wizards on Sunday and Haliburton and Hield are starting to look good in their new team, so while the Cavaliers look tempting at the short line, I think the Pacers pull off the minor upset at home in this spot.
