The Brooklyn Nets pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Tuesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost six of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a four-game slide after getting stopped by the Celtics in a 126-120 road loss on Sunday. Kevin Durant led the team in scoring with 37 points, six rebounds and eight assists, Kyrie Irving added 19 points with six assists while Bruce Brown chipped in with 16 points and five assists. As a team, the Nets shot 50 percent from the field and 12 of 27 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Celtics in a close contest until the fourth quarter where the Celtics closed the final 3:14 on a 16-9 run snatch the game from them in the end. Seth Curry scored just eight points while Andre Drummond scored just six points and on the defensive end, they just didn’t have an answer for the Celtics’ Jayson Tatum who scorched them for 54 points.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in decent form lately as they’ve won three of their past five games and they will be aiming for a third straight win after outlasting the Spurs in a 123-117 win on Saturday. Terry Rozier led the way with 31 points on 10 of 18 shooting, LaMelo Ball added 24 points with eight rebounds and seven assists while Montrezl Harrell chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Hornets shot 46 percent from the field and 16 of 42 from the 3-point line as they struggled to gain any separation until they clamped down defensively in the fourth quarter, holding the Spurs to just 10 points in the final 7:42 to escape with the narrow victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Hornets are 2-9-1 ATS in their last 12 home games, 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games playing on two days’ rest and 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win.
Head to head, the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall and the Nets are 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Charlotte.
The Nets are going to be shorthanded again as LaMarcus Aldridge and Ben Simmons are out while Cam Thomas is questionable for this one. The Hornets are still without James Bouknight who is out while Jalen McDaniels is listed as questionable. The Nets could really do with a win to get their season back on track, but the Hornets have found a bit of form over their last couple of games, so this one could be a close one. With that being said, the Nets are 10-3 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Charlotte and I think that trend continues here as they escape with the narrow win and cover.
