The Atlanta Hawks pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Monday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in great shape as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after sneaking past the Wizards in a 117-114 road win on Friday. DeAndre Hunter led the team with 26 points on eight of 12 shooting, Trae Young added 25 points with eight assists while Bogdan Bogdanovic chipped in with 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Hawks shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 36 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and poured in 68 points in the first half to lead by 14 points which proved to be just enough in the end as the Wizards cut the lead to just one point with 5.9 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons are also coming into this one with plenty of momentum as they’ve won five of their last seven games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after outlasting the Pacers in a 111-106 win on Friday. Saddiq Bey drained six 3-pointers to lead the team with 25 points, Cade Cunningham added 20 points with nine rebounds and three assists while Marvin Bagley chipped in with 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench. As a team, the Pistons shot 44 percent from the field and 15 of 30 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 15-point lead to fall behind by five points late in the fourth quarter, before closing the final 6:02 on a 18-8 run to escape with the narrow win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on two days’ rest. The Pistons are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog, 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games playing on two days’ rest and 7-0 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Detroit.
The Hawks could be a little shorthanded as Kevin Huerter is currently listed as questionable for this one, while the Pistons are sweating on the availability of Hamidou Diallo who is questionable with an illness. These two teams last met right at the start of the season and it was the Hawks who won by 122-104, but the Hawks are only 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games and the Pistons are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Pistons are playing their best basketball of the season so while I have the Hawks winning, I think the Pistons hang around and get the cover in this spot.
