The Indiana Pacers and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Sunday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 10 of their past 13 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after coming up short against the Pistons in a 111-106 road loss on Friday. Malcolm Brogdon led the team with 26 points, Buddy Hield and Duane Washington Jr. each scored 16 points while Isaiah Jackson chipped in with 12 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. As a team, the Pacers shot just 39 percent from the field and 10 of 40 from the 3-point line as they clawed their way back from an early 15-point deficit, only to go ice-cold when it mattered most as they managed just eight points in the final 7:30 to allow the Pistons to run them down. Lance Stephenson finished scoreless on zero of four shooting off the bench while Hield shot just one of 10 from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in rough shape as they’ve lost seven of their past 11 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting stopped by the Hawks in a 117-114 loss on Friday. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope drained six 3-pointers to lead the team with 28 points and five assists on 10 of 12 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 22 points with 11 assists while Rui Hachimura chipped in with 19 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 54 percent from the field and 14 of 29 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Hawks to get off to a quick start and trailed by 14 points which proved to be just enough in the end as the Wizards got to within one point with 5.9 seconds left on the clock.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Wizards are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 home games, 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall and the Pacers are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Washington.
The Pacers are going to be shorthanded again as TJ Warren and Myles Turner are still out while Lance Stephenson, Goga Bitadze and Chris Duarte are all questionable for this one. The Wizards are without Bradley Beal for the rest of the season and Vernon Carey Jr. is listed as day to day, but the good news is that Kristaps Porzingis is expected to debut in this one. You couldn’t bet on either team with much confidence these days, but the Wizards looked good in their narrow loss to the Hawks on Friday and I think they will be buoyed by the addition of Porzingis into the lineup.
