The Sacramento Kings invade the American Airlines Center to take on the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night.
The Sacramento Kings have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost five of their past seven games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum after outlasting the Spurs in a 115-112 road win on Thursday. Harrison Barnes led the team with 27 points on six of eight shooting, De’Aaron Fox added 26 points with nine assists while Domantas Sabonis chipped in with 12 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Kings shot 46 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they poured in 64 points in the first half to build a 19-point lead, but after the Spurs ran them down, they went on another 8-1 run late in the fourth quarter to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in great shape as they’ve won nine of their past 11 games overall and they will be aiming for a fourth straight victory after taking down the Warriors in a 122-113 win on Thursday. Luka Doncic led the team with 41 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, Dorian Finney-Smith added 18 points on seven of nine shooting while Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 17 points and seven assists off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 52 percent from the field and 17 of 37 for the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and poured in 68 points in the first half to build a 17-point lead, before closing the final 6:06 on a 18-9 run to escape with the narrow win after the Warriors drew level in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a win and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games against a team above .600. The Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games, 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a losing record and 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-0 in the last seven meetings overall, the Kings are 22-8-1 ATS in the last 31 meetings overall and the Kings are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings in Dallas.
It's the classic tale of two teams headed in opposite directions as the Kings were really struggling before their much-needed win over the Spurs, while the Mavericks have been one of the hottest teams in the league. The Mavericks are going to be shorthanded in this one as Tim Hardaway Jr. and Marquese Chriss are both still out, while Sterling Brown, Trey Burke and Luka Doncic are all listed as questionable. The injuries make this one tricky, but I’ll stick with the Mavericks if Doncic is able to suit up.
