The Atlanta Hawks and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Friday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in decent form as they’ve won four of their past six games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the Bulls in a 130-124 win last night. Trae Young drained seven 3-pointers on his way to 39 points and 13 assists, DeAndre Hunter added 18 points while Bogdan Bogdanovic provided the spark with 20 points off the bench. As a team, the Hawks shot 52 percent from the field and 18 of 40 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Bulls off to a quick start which had them trailing for most of the game, until late in the fourth quarter where they went on a decisive 11-0 run to pull away and escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have split their last eight games and they will be eager to build some momentum after outlasting the Pistons in a 116-113 win on Tuesday. Kyle Kuzma led the team in scoring with 21 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Thomas Bryant added 16 points and eight assists off the bench while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 50 percent from the field and 13 of 26 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after allowing 40 points in the second quarter, but they clawed their way back into the contest behind their defense before they drained their final four free throws to escape with the narrow win.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record. The Wizards are 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 home games, 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record and 16-33-2 ATS in their last 51 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings in Washington.
The Hawks are starting to heat up now and they would’ve taken plenty of confidence from their comeback win over the Bulls last night, while the Wizards are searching for consistency after taking down the upstart Pistons and they’re going to have the advantage of extra rest as they haven’t played since Tuesday. This one could go either way, but the Wizards are only 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 home games, so I’m sticking with the Hawks at the short line.
