The Miami Heat pay a visit to the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center on Thursday night.
The Miami Heat have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their past 11 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after getting stopped in their tracks by the Bucks in a 120-119 road loss last night. Tyler Herro led the team with 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists off the bench, Gabe Vincent added 21 points with six assists while Bam Adebayo chipped in with 18 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Heat shot 45 percent from the field and a sizzling 21 of 44 from the 3-point line as they built a 14-point lead midway through the fourth quarter, before going ice-cold as they managed just six points in the final 7:11 to allow the Bucks to snatch the game from them in the end.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after coming up painfully short to the Raptors in a 109-108 road loss on Tuesday. James Johnson led the team with 19 points on seven of 11 shooting, Seth Curry added 18 points with six assists while LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in with 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Nets shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to rally back from an 11-point deficit, only to get run down in the fourth quarter where the Raptors went on a decisive 22-9 run to snatch the game from them in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six road games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games playing on zero days’ rest and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record. The Nets are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games as an underdog, 6-21-1 ATS in their last 28 home games and 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the under is 13-6-1 in the last 20 meetings overall and the Heat are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings in Brooklyn.
The Heat are going to be shorthanded once again as Markieff Morris and Kyle Lowry are both still out, while the Nets are still without Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving, but Andre Drummond is expected to return along with Kevin Durant in a huge boost for the Nets. The Heat will be kicking themselves after last night’s slip up against the Bucks and it's always tough playing on zero days’ rest, but they’ve been one of the most consistent teams in the league all season no matter who sits out and I think we’ll see them bounce back in a close one.
