The Chicago Bulls invade the State Farm Arena to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday night.
The Chicago Bulls have been in decent shape as they’ve won six of their past 10 games overall, but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting routed by the Heat in a 112-99 road loss on Monday. Zach LaVine led the team with 22 points on eight of 16 shooting, DeMar DeRozan and Ayo Dosunmu each scored 18 points while Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Bulls shot 48 percent from the field and seven of 29 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Heat right from the start, falling behind by nine points going into halftime, before getting blown out in the third quarter where they fell behind by as many as 24 points.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have been in a rut as they’ve lost five of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after coming up short against the Celtics in a 107-98 road loss on Tuesday. Trae Young led the team with 31 points and six assists on 12 of 25 shooting, Bogdan Bogdanovic added 25 points off the bench while Danilo Gallinari chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Hawks shot just 43 percent from the field and seven of 31 from the 3-point line as they dominated the first half to lead by as many as 17 points, but it didn’t last long as all their hard work went down the drain in the third quarter where the Celtics outscored them by 31-13. DeAndre Hunter had a night to forget as he scored just four points on zero of eight shooting in 37 minutes of action.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bulls are 36-16-1 ATS in their last 53 games against a team with a losing record, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on two days’ rest and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss. The Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 10-2 ATS in their last 12 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games as an underdog.
Head to head, the Bulls are 11-5 ATS in the last 16 meetings overall and the Bulls are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Atlanta.
The Hawks are going to be shorthanded once again as John Collins is still out, while Trae Young is considered questionable, but the good news is that Lou Williams is listed as probable for this one. The Bulls have cooled off with a couple of losses on the trot, but they’ve had a couple days off and they are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Atlanta. This should be a close one, but I’m leaning towards the Bulls to get the much-needed win if Young isn’t able to suit up.
