The New York Knicks invade the Wells Fargo Center to take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in a major slump as they’ve lost nine of their last 10 games overall and they be hoping to put an end to a five-game slide after getting routed by the new-look 76ers in a 125-109 loss on Sunday. RJ Barrett and Evan Fournier led the team with 24 points each, Immanuel Quickley added 21 points off the bench while Julius Randle chipped in with 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Knicks shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from the 3-point line as they poured in 33 points in the third quarter to rally back from a nine-point halftime deficit, only to get blown out in the fourth quarter by 34-20 as the 76ers finished with a flurry.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be eager to build on their three-game win streak after blowing past the Knicks on Sunday. Joel Embiid led the team with 37 points, nine rebounds and four blocks, James Harden tallied a triple-double of 29 points with 10 rebounds, 16 assists and five steals while Tyrese Maxey chipped in with 21 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 33 from the 3-point line as they poured in 65 points in the first half to take the early lead, before going on a 14-2 run in the fourth quarter to pull away and keep their win streak alive.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games, 1-8 ATS in their last nine games against a team with a winning record and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall. The 76ers are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 0-4 ATS in their last four home games against a team with a losing road record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 17-6 in the last 23 meetings in Philadelphia, the Knicks are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Philadelphia and the Knicks are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
It’s the classic tale of two teams headed in opposite directions as the Knicks have been ice-cold lately, while the 76ers have been on fire. It’s always tough to beat the same team twice in a row, but the Knicks must be low confidence after hanging with the 76ers for three quarters on Sunday, only to get blown out in the end. The line is a little hefty, but the 76ers have looked great with Harden in the lineup and I think they’ll be too much for the Knicks once again.
