The Boston Celtics play host to the Atlanta Hawks at the TD Garden on Tuesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks are starting to build some momentum with three wins in their last four outings and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the Raptors in a 127-100 home win on Saturday. Trae Young led the team with 41 points and 11 assists on 17 of 24 shooting, DeAndre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic each scored 14 points while Onyeka Okongwu chipped in with 17 points on six of six shooting. As a team, the Hawks shot a sizzling 57 percent from the field and 13 of 31 from the 3-point line as they poured in 66 points in the first half to take the early lead, before dominating the third quarter by 38-16 to lead by as many as 32 points.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been on a tear as they’ve won 11 of their last 13 games overall, but they will be aiming to bounce back in this one after getting thrashed by the Pacers in a 128-107 road loss on Sunday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 24 points, Jaylen Brown added 23 points with eight assists on 10 of 16 shooting, Marcus Smart added 13 points with seven assists while Robert Williams chipped in with 10 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. As a team, the Celtics shot just 42 percent from the field and 17 of 33 from the 3-point line as they lost control of the contest in the second quarter
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 road games against a team with a winning home record. The Celtics are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on one days’ rest and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the Hawks are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Hawks are starting to heat up but they’re going to be shorthanded once again as Lou Williams and John Collins are both still out, while the Celtics are coming into this one just about at full strength which is a rarity in the league this season. These two teams have already met three teams this season with the Hawks leading by 2-1, but the Celtics were on fire before they got ambushed by the Pacers on Sunday and I think they can bounce back with a solid win at home in this spot.
