The Toronto Raptors invade the Barclays Center to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night.
The Toronto Raptors have been in a bit of a rut as they’ve lost four of their last five games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting thrashed by the Hawks in a 127-100 road loss on Saturday. Fred VanVleet led the team with 24 points and nine assists, Precious Achiuwa added 21 points with nine rebounds off the bench while Pascal Siakam chipped in with 14 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Raptors shot just 40 percent from the field and 10 of 32 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and poured in 37 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, but they couldn’t maintain that pace and managed just 37 points in the second and third quarters combined to allow the Hawks to run the score up on them in the end. Gary Trent Jr. scored just nine points on three of 10 shooting while Malachi Flynn scored just six points on two of 10 shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets are starting to turn things around now as they’ve won three of their past five games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the red-hot Bucks in a 126-123 road win on Saturday. Kyrie Irving led the team with 38 points on 14 of 26 shooting, Seth Curry added 19 points, Andre Drummond tallied 17 points with 12 rebounds and five assists while Bruce Brown chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Nets shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a sluggish start and trailed going into halftime, before they clawed their way back into the contest with 43 points in the third quarter. Still, the Nets had to fight till the end as they trailed by seven points in the fourth quarter before closing the final 4:22 on a 21-11 run to escape with the impressive comeback victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games against a team with a losing home record, 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Nets are 6-20-1 ATS in their last 27 home games, 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record and 1-7 ATS in their last eight home games against a team with a winning road record.
Head to head, the Raptors are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Raptors are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Brooklyn.
The Raptors are still missing OG Anunoby while Fred VanVleet is listed as questionable, and the Nets are still without Ben Simmons, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The Raptors have cooled off a bit lately and their confidence took a major hit in their blowout loss to the Hawks on Saturday, but they are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Brooklyn and the Nets just aren’t nearly as dangerous with Irving out of the lineup.
