The Philadelphia 76ers pay a visit to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their past seven games overall and they will be gunning for a third straight victory after blowing past the Timberwolves in a 133-102 road win on Friday. Joel Embiid led the team with 35 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Tyrese Maxey added 28 points while James Harden tallied 27 points with eight rebounds and 12 assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 51 percent from the field and 19 of 39 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start, pouring in 65 points in the first half to take the early double-digit lead, before exploding for 41 points in the fourth quarter to make it a complete blowout despite a quiet night from Tobias Harris who finished with just six points on two of nine shooting.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a terrible slump as they’ve lost 14 of their past 17 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a four-game slide after getting routed by the Heat in a 115-100 home loss on Friday. RJ Barrett led the team with a career-high 46 points on 13 of 22 shooting, Evan Fournier added 13 points while Alec Burks chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Knicks shot just 40 percent from the field and 14 of 40 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from a 16-point deficit, only to go ice-cold in the fourth quarter where they managed just 15 points to allow the Heat to run away with it in the end. Julius Randle had a night to forget as he finished with just 11 points on two of 15 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the 76ers are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four Sunday games. The Knicks are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 1-7 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the 76ers are 0-3-1 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the 76ers are 1-3-1 ATS in the last five meetings in New York.
The 76ers are coming into this meeting with plenty of momentum and they will be full of confidence after blowing past the in-form Timberwolves in Harden’s debut game for his new squad. The Knicks have been a mess for a while now and they are coming fresh off another tough loss after fizzling out against the Heat on Friday. The line is a little hefty for a road team, but the Knicks haven’t shown any sign of turning things around just yet, so I’m taking the 76ers to win and cover here.
