The Indiana Pacers play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been in a real slump as they’ve lost seven of their past eight games and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting blown out by the Suns in a 124-104 home loss last night. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 32 points and five assists on 13 of 22 shooting, Josh GIddey added 15 points with nine rebounds and six assists while Aleksej Pokusevski chipped in with 13 points off the bench. As a team, the Thunder shot 47 percent from the field and a miserly six of 31 from the 3-point line, but they got off to a terrible start and were always fighting an uphill battle after getting outscored by 31-14 in a nightmare of a first quarter.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 11 of their past 14 games overall, but they will be feeling a little better after putting an end to a seven-game slide after beating the Wizards by 113-108 last Wednesday. Tyrese Haliburton led the team with 21 points with 14 assists, Terry Taylor added 18 points while Oshae Brissett and Tristan Thompson each chipped in with 17 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 54 percent from the field and a miserly four of 20 from the 3-point line as they built a 13-point lead in the third quarter behind their defense, which proved to be just enough in the end as the Wizards cut the lead to just one point late in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Thunder are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 road games, 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games against a team with a losing record and 33-15-4 ATS in their last 52 games overall. The Pacers are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games playing on three or more days’ rest and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings overall and the Thunder are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Thunder are going to be shorthanded once again as Ty Jerome, Luguentz Dort and Mike Muscala remain out, while the Pacers will be without Myles Turner, TJ Warren and Ricky Rubio while Chris Duarte is listed as questionable. You couldn’t back either team with much confidence these days, but the Thunder looked toothless in last night’s big loss to the Suns and they’re going to struggle on zero days’ rest. Give me the Pacers to pull away in the second half for the win and cover in this spot.
