The Brooklyn Nets play host to the Washington Wizards at the Barclays Center on Thursday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 10 of their past 13 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after coming up short to the Pacers in a 113-108 road loss last night. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope led the team with 27 points on nine of 18 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 26 points with 15 rebounds and six assists while Deni Avdija chipped in with 14 points off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot just 42 percent from the field and 17 of 37 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to cut a 13-point deficit in the third quarter to just one point midway through the fourth quarter, until the Pacers pull away with a final 6-0 run to snatch the game from them.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets look to have moved on from their ugly 11-game losing streak as they are now aiming for a third straight victory after rallying past the Knicks in a thrilling 111-106 road win last night. Cam Thomas led the team in scoring with 21 points off the bench, Seth Curry drained six 3-pointers to finish with 20 points and six assists, LaMarcus Aldridge scored 18 points with 10 rebounds while James Johnson chipped in with 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Nets shot just 43 percent from the field and 11 of 34 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and fell behind by as many as 28 points in the first half, before outscoring the Knicks by 67-41 in the second half to escape with the thrilling comeback victory.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 29-13-2 ATS in their last 44 games playing on zero days’ rest. The Nets are 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 home games, 0-5-1 ATS in their last six games playing on zero days’ rest and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the Wizards are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Brooklyn.
The Wizards will again be without Daniel Gafford, Kristaps Porzingis and Rui Hachimura, while the Nets will be missing Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons and Kevin Durant once again. These two teams met a week ago and it was the Wizards who won by 113-112 despite 31 points from Kyrie Irving. I’m expecting another close contest, but the Wizards are only 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Brooklyn and I think the Nets can get the revenge in this spot.
