The Washington Wizards invade the Gainbridge Fieldhouse to take on the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.
The Washington Wizards have been in a slump as they’ve lost nine of their past 12 games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum here after taking down the Pistons in a 103-94 home win on Monday. Kyle Kuzma led the team with 23 points on 10 of 18 shooting, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 16 points while Deni Avdija chipped in with 12 points, 15 rebounds and three assists off the bench. As a team, the Wizards shot 47 percent from the field and nine of 29 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Pistons in a tight contest, until the third quarter where they used a pivotal 14-4 run to pull away and gain some separation.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 11 of their past 13 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a seven-game slide after getting stopped by the Bucks in a 128-119 road loss last night. Buddy Hield drained eight 3-pointers to lead the team with 36 points on 14 of 20 shooting, Tyrese Haliburton added 17 points with eight assists and four steals while Goga Bitadze chipped in with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Pacers shot 50 percent from the field and 17 of 41 from the 3-point line, but they needed more support for the newly-acquired Hield who carried the team offense all night.
Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games, 4-16-1 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record and 9-23-2 ATS in their last 34 games overall. The Pacers are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games playing on zero days’ rest and 0-6 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 5-0 in the last five meetings overall, the Wizards are 0-4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Indiana and the Wizards are 3-1-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Wizards will again be missing Bradley Beal, Daniel Gafford and Kristaps Porzingis while Rui Hachimura is listed as day to day. The Pacers are going to be shorthanded again as Chris Duarte, Myles Turner, Malcolm Brogdon and Ricky Rubio are all out. You couldn’t pick either team with much confidence these days, but the Wizards looked good in their last win and I think they can get the job done at the short line.
