The Boston Celtics play host to the Detroit Pistons at the TD Garden on Wednesday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in a major slump as they’ve lost 12 of their past 13 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest an eight-game slide after getting stopped by the Wizards in a 103-94 road loss on Monday. Saddiq Bey led the team with 24 points and five assists, Jerami Grant added 14 points while Cade Cunningham chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Pistons shot just 37 percent from the field and eight of 23 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Wizards in a close contest, until the third quarter where the Wizards exploded for 37 points to pull away in the end. Cunningham shot just five of 16 from the field and zero of five from the 3-pointline, while Killian Hayes finished scoreless on zero of five shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 11 of their past 12 games overall and they will be looking to build on their current nine-game win streak after destroying the shorthanded 76ers in a 135-87 road win last night. Jaylen Brown led the team with 29 points, eight rebounds and three assists, Jayson Tatum added 28 points with 12 rebounds and six assists while Aaron Nesmith chipped in with 18 points on six of nine shooting off the bench. As a team, the Celtics shot 56 percent from the field and a sizzling 25 of 45 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and poured in 69 points in the first half to take the early double-digit lead which only grew in the second half as the Celtics ran riot.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 0-4 ATS in their last four road games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall. The Celtics are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Boston, the Pistons are 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings in Boston and the Pistons are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
The Pistons will again be missing Jamorko Pickett and Frank Jackson, while the Celtics are without Robert Williams and Marcus Smart is currently listed as day to day. The Pistons haven’t been able to get anything going in their last 13 games or so and their confidence took another hit after getting beaten by the Wizards in their last outing, so I’m sticking with the red-hot Celtics to get the job done despite playing on zero days’ rest.
