The Brooklyn Nets and the New York Knicks battle it out at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
The Brooklyn Nets have been in a major slump as they were riding an ugly 11-game losing streak, before snapping out of it with a much-needed 109-85 win over the Kings on Monday. Seth Curry led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Bruce Brown added 19 points withs ix assists and five steals while LaMarcus Aldridge provided the spark off the bench with 19 points on eight of 11 shooting. As a team, the Nets shot 51 percent from the field and nine of 26 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 35 points in the first quarter to take the early double-digit lead, before restricting the Kings to just 37 points in the second half to make it a complete blowout in the end.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks have been in a rut as they’ve lost nine of their past 11 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after coming up short to the Thunder in a 127-123 overtime home loss on Monday. Julius Randle led the team with a triple-double of 30 points with 13 rebounds and 10 assists, Evan Fournier added 29 points with five assists while Mitchell Robinson chipped in with 14 points, 17 rebounds, four steals and four blocks. As a team, the Knicks shot just 41 percent from the field and 15 of 50 from the 3-point line as they squandered an 11-point third quarter lead, before coming up short in overtime as the Thunder had all the momentum.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nets are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six road games, 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games following a win of more than 10 points and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Knicks are 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall.
Head to head, the under is 21-6 in the last 27 meetings in New York, the Nets are 3-9 ATS in the last 12 meetings in New York and the Nets are 7-19 ATS in the last 26 meetings overall.
The Nets will again be without Joe Harris, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, while the Knicks will be missing RJ Barrett, Nerlens Noel and Derrick Rose. It’s always a big deal when these arch rivals battle it out, but it’s so hard to pick this one with so many players on both sides missing. The Nets looked good with Curry leading the way in the last outing, but the Nets are only 3-9 ATS in the last 12 meetings in New York, so I’m leaning towards the Knicks to get the much-needed win at home.
