The Miami Heat play host to the Dallas Mavericks at the FTX Arena on Tuesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their past nine games overall, but they will be eager to bounce back here after having their four-game win streak halted by the Clippers in a 99-97 home loss on Saturday. Luka Doncic led the team with 45 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, Jalen Brunson added 22 points while Reggie Bullock chipped in with 17 points, but no other player scored more than six points. As a team, the Mavericks shot just 41 percent from the field and 15 of 39 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense and trailed by nine points midway through the fourth quarter which proved to be just enough as the Mavericks cut the deficit to just one point with 8.0 seconds remaining.
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat have been in fine form as they’ve won 10 of their past 14 games overall and they will be looking to build on their current five-game win streak after sneaking past the Nets in a 115-111 home win on Saturday. Bam Adebayo led the team with 19 points, 14 rebounds and four assists, Duncan Robinson added 17 points while Tyler Herro chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Heat shot 50 percent from the field and 10 of 29 from the 3-point line as they held the Nets to just 18 points in the third quarter to build a 21-point lead, before holding off a late rally from the Nets who got to within one point with 15.3 seconds remaining.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600 and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The Heat are 21-8 ATS in their last 29 games playing on two days’ rest, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Mavericks are 1-4-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Miami and the Mavericks are 3-9-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall.
The Mavericks will again be missing Tim Hardaway Jr and Marquese Chriss while Trey Burke is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. The Heat will be without Markieff Morris, Tyler Herro and Caleb Martin while Jimmy Butler is listed as questionable. Both teams are coming into this one with plenty of momentum and the Mavericks are dealing with fewer injuries, but the Heat have been rock-solid all season no matter who lines up for them, so it's no surprise that they’re favorites despite the injury cloud hanging over Butler. The Mavericks are only 3-9-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall, so I’m sticking with the shorthanded Heat to get the job done in this one.
