The Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers duke it out at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday night.
The Boston Celtics have been on fire lately as they’ve won 10 of their past 11 games overall and they will be gunning for a ninth straight victory after taking down the Hawks in a 105-95 home win on Sunday. Jayson Tatum led the team with 38 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Jaylen Brown added 17 points with nine rebounds and three assists, Derrick White scored 14 points with five assists off the bench while Marcus Smart chipped in with 13 points and seven assists. As a team, the Celtics shot just 42 percent from the field and 11 of 38 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense early on and trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, before ambushing the Hawks with an explosive 42-point third quarter to flip the game on its head and win comfortably in the end.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have been in good form as they’ve won eight of their past 11 games overall and they will be hoping for a third straight win after taking down the Cavaliers in a 103-93 home win on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the team with a monster triple-double of 40 points with 14 rebounds and 10 assists, Tyrese Maxey added 16 points while Tobias Harris chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the 76ers shot 48 percent from the field and 10 of 22 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start and poured in 36 points in the first quarter to take the early double-digit lead which they maintained for most of the contest.
Looking at the betting trends, the Celtics are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, 6-2 ATS in their last eight games playing on one days’ rest and 5-14-1 ATS in their last 20 games following an ATS win. The 76ers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games playing on two days’ rest and 1-5 ATS in their last six home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the Celtics are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings in Philadelphia and the Celtics are 0-7 ATS in the last seven meetings overall.
The Celtics have really found their groove now as they’ve won 10 of their last 11 games and they looked great in their comeback win over the Hawks in their last outing. The 76ers are coming into this meeting with plenty of momentum themselves and they just beat a red-hot Cavaliers team on Saturday, but they will have to wait a little longer before James Harden can suit up for them. This should be a great contest that goes down to the wire, so while I like Embiid to put together another monster game, I have the Celtics escaping with the narrow win in this one.
