The Detroit Pistons and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Monday night.
The Detroit Pistons have been in terrible form as they’ve lost 11 of their past 12 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a seven-game slide after getting routed by the Hornets in a 141-119 home loss on Friday. Saddiq Bey led the team with 25 points, Hamidou Diallo added 16 points off the bench while Jerami Grant and Isaiah Stewart each scored 15 points. As a team, the Pistons shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 35 from the 3-point line as they allowed the Hornets to explode for 43 points in the second quarter to take an unassailable 24-point lead into halftime.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a real slump as they’ve lost nine of their past 11 games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting routed by the Kings in a 123-110 home loss on Saturday. Kyle Kuzma led the team with 22 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, Corey Kispert added 20 points with six assists while Thomas Bryant and Rui Hachimura each scored 13 points. As a team, the Wizards shot 46 percent from the field and 13 of 38 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and took the early lead going into halftime, but they couldn’t keep up the pace in the second half where they got outscored by 64-45 to lose big in the end.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games, 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as a road underdog and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Wizards are 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 home games, 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points and 8-23-2 ATS in their last 33 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 12-3-2 in the last 17 meetings in Washington and the Pistons are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings in Washington.
The Pistons will again be without Frank Jackson, Isaiah Livers and Jamorko Pickett, while the Wizards will be missing Bradley Beal, Daniel Gafford and Kristaps Porzingis who are all out. You couldn’t bet your money on either team with much confidence the way these two have been playing, but the Wizards edged out the Pistons by 119-116 in the meeting earlier this season and I’m expecting a similar result here. The Pistons are 0-6 ATS in the last six meetings in Washington and I think that trend continues here as the Wizards win a close one at home.
