The Charlotte Hornets play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the Spectrum Center on Saturday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in red-hot form as they’ve won seven of their past eight games and they will be gunning for a fifth straight win after blowing past the Pistons in a 132-107 road win on Thursday. Ja Morant led the team with 23 points and six assists, Desmond Bane added 22 points while Steven Adams chipped in with 16 points, 14 rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 47 percent from the field and 15 of 30 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start and never let off after exploding for 41 points in the first quarter. A total of seven players finished in double figures and the starters were rested in the fourth quarter with the game all wrapped up early.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost eight of their past 11 games overall and they will be looking to stay hot after snapping a six-game slide with a 141-119 road win over the Pistons last night. LaMelo Ball led the team with 31 points and 12 assists, Miles Bridges added 25 points, Terry Rozier tallied a triple-double of 25 points with 10 rebounds and 11 assists while Montrezl Harrell chipped in with 15 points on seven of nine shooting off the bench. As a team, the Hornets shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 18 of 42 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and looked like a completely different team as they poured in 79 points in the first half to allow them to cruise in the second half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 road games and 28-10 ATS in their last 38 games overall. The Hornets are 0-7 ATS in their last seven home games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on zero days’ rest.
Head to head, the under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings in Charlotte and the Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall.
It’s a classic tale of two teams headed in opposite directions as the Grizzlies have been one of the hottest teams in the league, while the Hornets had lost six in a row before getting the much-needed win over the lowly Pistons last night which isn’t too much to be proud of these days. The Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and they have the advantage of extra rest, so I’m sticking with the Grizzlies all the way in this spot.
