The Indiana Pacers play host to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in great shape as they’ve won 12 of their past 15 games overall and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after routing the Spurs in a 105-92 home win on Wednesday. Darius Garland led the team with 27 points and six assists on 12 of 15 shooting, Evan Mobley added 18 points with 12 rebounds while Jarrett Allen chipped in with 15 points and 14 rebounds. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 47 percent from the field and nine of 21 from the 3-point line but this win was about their defense as they took control in the second quarter, holding the Spurs to just 18 points to take the early lead, before pulling away in the fourth quarter where the held the Spurs to just 19 points. Kevin love had a rough night as he finished with just seven points on three of 13 shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in a real slump as they’ve lost eight of their past 10 games and they will be hoping to snap a four-game skid after getting thrashed by the Hawks in a 133-112 road loss on Tuesday. Chris Duarte led the team with 25 points on eight of 16 shooting, Lance Stephenson added 24 points with nine rebounds and eight assists while Oshae Brissett chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Pacers shot just 39 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the 3-point line but this game was over before halftime as the Pacers were already trailing by 18 points in the first quarter where the Hawks exploded for 40 points. Duane Washington Jr. had a night to forget as they scored just 10 points on three of 14 shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Cavaliers are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games, 4-9-2 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a losing record and 20-9-1 ATS in their last 30 games playing on one days’ rest. The Pacers are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 0-4 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings in Indiana, the Cavaliers are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Indiana and the Cavaliers are 2-0-2 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Cavaliers are going to be shorthanded once again as Lauri Markkanen is still out with an ankle injury, while the Pacers will again be missing Myles Turner, TJ McConnell and Ricky Rubio, while Malcolm Brogdon and Isaiah Jackson are both listed as questionable. This should be a close one for the most part, but in the end I have the Cavaliers pulling away for the win and cover as the Pacers have been in a tailspin and it’s too risky to back them with so many players under an injury cloud. I’m sticking with the Cavaliers staying hot with another win and cover in this spot.
