The Charlotte Hornets pay a visit to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena on Friday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost eight of their past 10 games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a six-game slide after getting routed by the Bulls in a 121-109 home loss on Wednesday. LaMelo Ball led the way with 33 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals, Miles Bridges added 22 points with five assists while Kelly Oubre Jr. chipped in with 19 points. As a team, the Hornets shot just 42 percent from the field and 13 of 43 from the 3-point line as they struggled right from the start, scoring just 16 points in the second quarter to fall behind by 15 points and things only got worse in the second half where the deficit ballooned to 21 points.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a real slump as they’ve lost 12 of their past 14 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a six-game slide after getting routed by the Grizzlies in a 132-107 home loss last night. Jerami Grant led the team with 20 points, Saddiq Bey and Hamidou Diallo each scored 17 points while Isaiah Stewart chipped in with 10 points. As a team, the Pistons shot just 43 percent from the field and seven of 35 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing the Grizzlies to explode for 41 points in the first quarter. Cory Joseph scored just four points on two of eight shooting while Frank Jackson shot just three of 13 from the field.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 0-7 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days’ rest, 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall. The Pistons are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 10-2-1 in the last 13 meetings overall, the Hornets are 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and the Hornets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Detroit.
The Hornets are going to be shorthanded in this one as Cody Martin and Jalen McDaniels are both out while Montrezl Harrell has yet to debut for his new team. The Pistons are also missing a few players as Cade Cunningham and Isaiah Livers are both out while Marvin Bagley has yet to debut for the Pistons. You couldn’t bet on either team with much confidence these days, but the Hornets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Detroit and the Pistons are playing this one on zero days’ rest, so I’m sticking with the Hornets in this spot.
