The Memphis Grizzlies and the Detroit Pistons duke it out at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday night.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been in great shape as they’ve won six of their past seven games and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after routing the Clippers in a 135-109 home win on Tuesday. Ja Morant led the team with 30 points, seven rebounds and five assists on 12 of 19 shooting, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 26 points with 11 rebounds while Brandon Clarke chipped in with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 51 percent from the field and nine of 26 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and poured in 38 points in the first quarter to take the early double-digit lead and they didn’t take their foot off the gas until they were leading by 34 points in this one.
Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been in a real slump lately as they’ve lost nine of their past 10 games overall and they will be hoping to arrest a five-game slide after getting routed by the Mavericks in a 116-86 road loss on Tuesday. Hamidou Diallo led the team in scoring with 18 points, Jerami Grant added 15 points while Isaiah Stewart chipped in with 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a team, the Pistons shot just 37 percent from the field and a miserly five of 30 from the 3-point line as they never looked threatening after falling into an early double-digit deficit which only grew as the game wore on. Saddiq Bey had a night to forget as he finished with just three points on one of 11 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Grizzlies are 8-0 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record, 16-5 ATS in their last 21 road games and 27-10 ATS in their last 37 games overall. The Pistons are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a loss of more than 10 points, 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the under is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall, the Grizzlies are 19-7 ATS in the last 26 meetings overall and the Grizzlies are 11-2 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Detroit.
It's a classic tale of two teams headed in opposite directions as the Grizzlies have been a team on the rise with six wins in their last seven games, while the Pistons have really cooled off lately with five losses on the trot. The line seems a little hefty, but the Grizzlies are 11-2 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Detroit and I think that trend continues here as the Grizzlies stay hot with another win and cover on the road.
