The Charlotte Hornets play host to the Chicago Bulls at the Spectrum Center on Wednesday night.
The Chicago Bulls have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their past nine games, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after coming up just short to the Suns in a 127-124 loss on Monday. DeMar DeRozan led the team with 38 points on 16 of 27 shooting, Zach LaVine added 32 points and eight assists while Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 13 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Bulls shot 47 percent from the field and 10 of 26 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep up with the Suns and trailed in this one by as many as 27 points, before pouring in 41 points in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to just three points before the clock expired.
Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost seven of their past nine games and they will be hoping to arrest a five-game slide after getting routed by the Raptors in a 116-101 home loss on Monday. Miles Bridges led the team with 25 points and five assists, Terry Rozier added 20 points with six assists while LaMelo Ball chipped in with 15 points, nine assists and four steals. As a team, the Hornets shot just 41 percent from the field and nine of 40 from the 3-point line as they worked hard to cut a 23-point deficit to just three points, but they ran out of gas and could do nothing to stop the Raptors from running away with it in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Bulls are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games following a loss and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games. The Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record, 0-6 ATS in their last six home games and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings overall, the Bulls are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings in Charlotte and the Bulls are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Bulls are going to be shorthanded once again as Alex Caruso, Lonzo Ball and Ayo Dosunmu are all still out, while the Hornets will be missing Gordon Hayward, Cody Martin and Jalen McDaniels. The Bulls have cooled off a bit lately as they’ve been hit hard by injuries, but they’re still doing a lot better than the Hornets who have been ice-cold lately. It’s hard to bet on a team missing two key players, but the Bulls are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall and the Hornets are 0-6 ATS in their last six home games. I’m sticking with the Bulls to escape with the win in a close one.
