The Memphis Grizzlies play host to the Los Angeles Clippers at the FedExForum on Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their past seven games overall, but they will be eager to bounce back in this one after getting blown out by the Bucks in a 137-113 home loss on Sunday. Norman Powell led the team with 28 points on nine of 16 shooting in his debut for his new team, Marcus Morris added 20 points with eight rebounds and four assists while Robert Covington chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Clippers shot just 41 percent from the field and 18 of 46 from the 3-point line as they struggled to match the Bucks in the second quarter and fell behind by nine points at halftime, before getting blown out in the second half where the Bucks exploded for 77 points.
Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their past six games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the lowly Magic in a 135-115 road win on Saturday. Ja Morant led the team with 33 points and seven assists on 14 of 21 shooting, Jaren Jackson Jr. added 21 points while DeAnthony Melton chipped in with 16 points and 10 rebounds. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 50 percent from the field and 13 of 39 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start, pouring in 76 points in the first half to build an early double-digit lead which grew to as many as 31 points in the third quarter. Desmond Bane had a forgettable night as he finished with just seven points on three of 12 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Clippers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a road underdog. The Grizzlies are 7-1 ATS in their last eight home games, 7-0 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 26-10 ATS in their last 36 games overall.
The Clippers might still be licking their wounds after getting thrashed by the Bucks on Sunday, but Powell looked great in his debut and they’re only going to get better as he gets more accustomed to his new surroundings. The Grizzlies are coming into this game with plenty of momentum and they will be full of confidence after pouring 135 points on the Magic in their last outing. The Grizzlies are 7-1 ATS in their last eight home games and 7-0 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, so I’m taking the Grizzlies to keep rolling in this one.
