The Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Pelicans do battle once again at the Smoothie King Center on Tuesday night.
The Houston Rockets have been in a real funk lately as they’ve lost six of their past seven games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the Pelicans in a 120-107 home loss on Sunday. Christian Wood led the team in scoring with 22 points, Jalen Green and Garrison Matthews each scored 18 points while Jae’Sean Tate chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 45 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after taking the lead into halftime, before watching the Pelicans take the game away from them with a pivotal 32-13 run in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in decent form as they will be eager to build on their current three-game win streak after blowing past the Rockets on Sunday. Brandon Ingram led the team with 33 points and 12 assists, Jaxson Hayes added 21 points with seven rebounds and two blocks off the bench while Jonas Valanciunas chipped in with 18 points. As a team, the Pelicans shot 53 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the 3-point line as they struggled to match the Rockets in the first half and trailed by 15 points early on, before exploding for 38 points in the third quarter to flip the game on its head.
Looking at the betting trends, the Rockets are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games, 15-36 ATS in their last 51 games against a team with a losing record and 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Pelicans are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the under is 19-7-1 in the last 27 meetings in New Orleans and the over is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings overall.
The Rockets will be shorthanded again as Erick Gordon is listed as questionable, while the Pelicans are sweating on the availability of Garrett Temple who is listed as questionable. It's always tough beating the same team twice in a row, but the Rockets just haven’t been able to build any momentum despite being almost at full strength. The Pelicans were good enough to get the win on Sunday and I think they will be too good at home in this one.
